Approach:
Expert survey: A survey of banana experts is used to elicit the most important constraints that affect yield and limit income. Results will be available for feedback on this site.
Literature review: A review of the published and grey literature on constraints to banana production and marketing is used to identify studies from which to extract relevant data. Section on constraints is added to Musapedia pages on production systems.
Expected outputs: Synthesis of the extent and severity of key constraints to smallholder banana production and marketing.
How the results are used:
Expert survey: The survey results help prioritize research options that address major constraints and will thus be included in the impact assessment in step 5.
Literature review: The literature review helps prioritize research options to be included in the model and provides starting points for assessing the potential impact of these research efforts.
